Newcastle broadcaster, actor, author and illustrator, Alfie Joey, is set to be the special guest judge for Strictly St Cuthbert’s 2023, the charitable dance competition that has been raising money for people who need Hospice care in County Durham since 2016.

After a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show will return with TV Presenter Anthony Rutherford acting as host, and Alfie Joey will be judging alongside dance teachers Lee Dudman of Dudman Academy of Performing Arts & Fitness and Ann Haining of Applegarth Academy of Dance.

The organisers are currently seeking ‘aspiring ballroom dancers’ to take to the dancefloor in March 2023. 10 couples will receive ten weeks of free dance tuition from Applegarth Academy of Dance in West Cornforth, Durham and Dudman Academy of Performing Arts and Fitness in Fenham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and will then perform in the grand finale at The Fed, Gateshead.
