Further Expansion Expected For The Dragons' Den-Backed App, ParkingPerx

Dragons’ Den backed app ParkingPerx which launched in Sunderland last year, is set for further expansion as the innovative high street-boosting app prepares to launch in Kendal this month.

Through a collaborative approach, the ParkingPerx app which has the backing of many national and local merchants, aims to help give the high street a huge boost, whilst rewarding shoppers and diners with free parking. The brainchild of founder Chris Reed, and backed by BBC Dragon’s Den former Dragon, Jenny Campbell, the innovative app is proving to be a key driving force in tackling barriers to trade on the high street.

Chris Reed, founder and Managing Director at ParkingPerx, said:

“We really look forward to expanding the app into Kendal this month. We have a number of exciting expansion plans in the pipeline, and it has been great to see the response from both the Kendal BID team and local businesses, with a range of retailers, cafes and independent merchants signed up already.

“Post lockdown, it’s more important than ever to generate footfall on our high streets and to help boost high street spending, thesuccessful formula has worked well in Sunderland, and we can’t wait to roll this out into Kendal too.”

ParkingPerx is a unique loyalty app that rewards customers with free parking when they spend offline, offering a real boost through the promotion and reward of high street spending. Motivated to drive city centre recovery, the app is designed to reunite shoppers with their favourite retailers, cafes and independent merchants to breathe life back into local high streets.

Businesses registered with the app control how and when it is used to reward customers to suit their particular trade or customer base, making ParkingPerx a win-win solution.

The revolutionary app has also caught the attention of The British Parking Awards which are organised by Parking Review. ParkingPerx has been shortlisted for ‘Intelligent Parking Award’ at the prestigious British Parking Awards 2021, with awards presented to leading examples of parking management, technological innovation, car park design, teamwork and individual achievements.

Chris said:

“We are absolutely delighted that ParkingPerx has been recognised and shortlisted as an innovative and collaborative approach to addressing parking within the industry and on such a prestigious national platform. We eagerly await the final results of the awards ceremony later in the month.”

The Intelligent Parking Award, sponsored by Alpha Parking specifically recognises smarter approaches to the planning and management of parking. The jury will be looking for examples of ‘joined-up’ or lateral thinking that deliver solutions to on-street and off-street needs as they assess the successful finalists in the coming weeks.

Former Dragon from BBC’s Dragon’s Den, Jenny Campbell, who is a strong backer of the app said: “From the minute I heard about ParkingPerx in the Den, I knew it was a game-changer. The unique app rewards your customers with free parking when they spend in your offline premises.

“And what’s more, you have full control of how the app works for your business and you only pay when customers spend with you. It’s a solution to help our town and city centres, and for that reason, I’m in!”

Chris added: “ParkingPerx is on a strong upward trajectory and with brands like Primark, M&S and Halfords on board alongside a host of fantastic independents and the backing and collaboration with local authorities and Business Improvement Districts we look forward to further growth across the UK.”
