The People’s Kitchen Newcastle brought the holiday spirit alive with a heart-warming Christmas entertainment evening for their “Friends.”

The event featured an evening of live music, laughter, and community bonding, skilfully MC’d by RV Narang, host of the drive time show on Spice FM ably assisted by his partner, Parveen Kaur from Leeds. In addition, live music was provided by professional singer Hayley Morrison.

Highlights of the Christmas entertainment evening included festive pop music followed by more upbeat tunes and even a spot of Bhangra. Singer Hayley Morrison then did a set of festive favourites which delighted the appreciative audience.

“I do this as a living, but it’s a privilege to play for people who can’t just walk into a club and enjoy themselves. This year, I decided to provide the musical backdrop while our Friends enjoy their food. Last year I donated pizzas for everyone and I think it is important to give back if you can.”

“Being able to pass on my love of music to others and putting smiles on their faces is a truly rewarding experience. I love singing, and this is my second time being part of such a meaningful event.”

Hayley Morrison shared her joy

“We are very grateful to all of our entertainers for giving up their time and helping to make this a very special night. People sometimes don’t realise that when they are out Christmas shopping or partying that perhaps just around the corner is a vulnerable person who needs help and support. This evening has given our Friends a little bit of normality at Christmas and is one of the highlights of their year.”

Jackie Boardman, Trustee of The People’s Kitchen, organised the Christmas entertainment

Jackie also highlighted the importance of their “Feed a Friend for A Fiver” Campaign. The campaign aims to provide food and support throughout the Christmas period and into the cold New Year.

“Just £5 can help us to feed a vulnerable person throughout the winter. Every donation, no matter how small, goes to those who need it most. We rely entirely on unpaid volunteers, donations from the public, businesses and the community as we get no government grants.”
