Sudocrem Honors Friday Vintage as Best Vintage Shop in Newcastle

Friday Vintage, the freshest independent vintage store in Newcastle situated on the Hippy Green at Old Eldon Square, has achieved a prestigious national award.

Sudocrem, the ultimate multi-tasking skincare brand, launched the Sudocrem Great British Pre-Loved Awards in support of the growing move towards sustainable second-hand buying. Enlisting the help of Brogan Sommerville, 2022 finalist on The Great British Sewing Bee and BBC Interior Design Masters runner-up, Jack Kinsey, to launch and judge the awards scheme, Sudocrem hoped to encourage more people to go green and buy pre-loved by celebrating the individuals and retailers who champion the win-win merits of thrifting.

Friday Vintage has been awarded Best Vintage Shop; the category voted for by the public. Securing 60% of the vote, the local vintage treasure trove has never been more popular and was the clear category winner.

“We wanted to celebrate the people and places who fly the flag for pre-loved fashion and give pre-loved clothes another moment in the spotlight,”

“Sudocrem’s Great British Pre-Loved Awards is part of our ongoing commitment to encourage recycling and reusing and we are delighted to award Friday Vintage with Best Vintage Shop.”

Amira Seffar, OTC Marketing Manager for Sudocrem.

Friday Vintage aims to bring sustainable fashion to the forefront of Newcastle’s retail scene and offer a curated vintage shopping experience. Each piece in the store is handpicked for its quality and uniqueness, ensuring all the items on the rails are of the very best vintage spec.

Owner, Laura Jackson and her partner, Nick, opened Friday Vintage earlier this year after taking the business from vintage markets to the high street. They stock vintage classics including leather jackets, boots and printed dresses from across the decades. Shoppers will find unique pieces from the 50s to the 90s with a particular focus on the 70s in response to a resurgence of love for 70s fashion.

“a labour of love and a passion project come to life.”

“I am thrilled to be awarded the Pre-Loved Award from Sudocrem, especially as it is an award voted for by the public. It’s been a lot of hard work since we opened just a few months ago but this award shows how much people value buying second-hand and making a positive impact on fashion waste.”
