Generous golfers with kind hearts have utilized their sporting prowess to make a positive impact, raising an impressive £12,000 for two well-deserving charities in the North East.

Newcastle-based Golf in the City (GITC), a vibrant networking group established two years ago, comprises over 80 avid golfers who share an unwavering passion for the game. This dynamic group regularly facilitates opportunities for golf enthusiasts to connect, build relationships, and relish the camaraderie inherent in the sport. Demonstrating their commitment to the local community, GITC merges their love for golf with charitable endeavours.

At the esteemed Slaley Hall, GITC hosted their first charity-led golf event, a memorable day of golf followed by an evening of dinner, prize distribution, and a fundraising auction.

The Newcastle Eagles Foundation and the Teenage Cancer Trust are the fortunate beneficiaries of this event. By evenly distributing the funds raised between these two organizations, GITC ensures that the proceeds directly impact the lives of individuals in the North East.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of our first charity-led golf event, which raised £12,000 for the Newcastle Eagles Foundation and the Teenage Cancer Trust,”

“Our goal was not only to enjoy a day of golf and networking but also to make a positive impact in our local community. We are grateful to all the participants, sponsors, and supporters who contributed to the success of this event.”

The resounding success of the initiative has inspired GITC to plan another charity-led golf event in 2024, with the aim of making it an annual event. They hope to continue supporting local charities and fostering a sense of community through their love for golf.

“The GITC committee is thrilled to support the two charities that provide brilliant work in our local North East community. Our event, combining a golf day and evening entertainment, was a great success. The Committee would like to extend their gratitude to their employers for their continued support: North Wealth Management (Marc Millar), Muckle LLP (Matthew Brady), Griffins Insolvency (Jenna Herlingshaw), and McGovern and Co (Andrew Pickersgill), as well as all the GITC members and supporters.”
