Bellway North East raised over £20,000 for a national cancer charity at its annual ball in Newcastle.

Staff and partners attended the glittering event at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle in Forth Street at the end of September.

The ball, which has been annually held since 2018, saw all senior members of the division’s management team, including Sales Director Emma Chesterton and Regional Director David McCrindle, join in the fun.

The money raised will go to Cancer Research UK. Bellway has been supporting the charity for the past six years and is aiming to raise £3 million nationally for the organisation by 2023.

The guests dipped into their pockets to bid on silent auction items which included an evening of fine dining for 12 people at Fortnum & Mason, a champagne afternoon tea for two at the Rosebery restaurant at London’s five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel and a three-night stay at a Lake District cottage that sleeps eight people.

On the night, which had a circus theme and featured an acrobat on a raised stage, there was a raffle with prizes including a family day pass for Alnwick Castle and afternoon tea for two at the 1910 Restaurant in Whitley Bay.

Managing Director David McCrindle said: “The event was a huge success and thanks must go to everyone who had a hand in organising such a fabulous night out.

“The ball has become a very important date in the Bellway North East calendar. It is a red-letter day not only because it gives the whole team the chance to socialise in a relaxed setting but also because we are able to raise money to help a very worthy cause.

“We have developed a very special relationship with Cancer Research UK over the years and it feels good to be able to add £20,000 plus to the running total as we strive to reach our target of £3 million for the charity.”

Cancer Research UK is a registered charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and raising awareness, funding scientists, doctors and nurses working on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
