The operator of the Tyne Tunnels, TT2, has donated an impressive £120,559 to North East charities over the past year. To round off a generous year of giving, they’re now spreading even more festive cheer, pledging £12,000 to 12 local charities over the 12 days of Christmas.

Recognising that Christmas can be especially difficult for those facing hardship, grief or illness, TT2’s latest donations will support a wide range of vital causes across the region.

The first to receive their £1,000 – on 12 December – is Maggie’s Cancer Care which has centres in Newcastle and Middlesbrough and offers care and support for people impacted by cancer, and their families.

The 13 December will see TT2 deliver a cheque to Cats Protection Tyneside, which helps cats and kittens that are unwanted, neglected or abused.

Pathways4All, which provides play and leisure services for disabled children and young people, is receiving £1,000 on the third day of Christmas.

Children’s Cancer North, North East Autism Society, Women’s Aid, Feeding Families, Breast Cancer Now, Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, Daft as a Brush, People’s Kitchen and Wag & Co will also receive £1,000 each.

The 12 Days of Christmas support package follows another year of significant donations to local charities and organisations from the Tyne Tunnels Community Fund, amounting to over £105,000 in 2025. TT2, which employs over 120 local people at their Wallsend office, has also undertaken over 330 hours of volunteering throughout the year.
