THE CHANCE to get up close and personal with Santa Claus in a unique seasonal experience as part of Newcastle’s Christmas is already proving a huge hit.

As part of the expanded programme of events and activities making up Newcastle’s Christmas this year, Old Eldon Square will be transformed to become Newcastle’s Christmas Village.

And one of the attractions – Santa Stories – has created a whole host of interest, just days after the event was announced, with bookings already piling up.

Santa Stories will take place at a special Christmas tipi and will be the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the season in a brand new way.

Youngsters who take part will first encounter Santa’s elves and then will be asked to answer some special questions, so the man in red can decide if they should be on the naughty or nice list.

There will also be some festive colouring and a chat with Santa, who will be stopping by for photographs and also to sign a certificate to confirm the youngsters are on the nice list.

This fully immersive experience is being created by EVNT Inspiration, the people who are behind Moosenwirst pop-up bar in Grey Street.

EVNT has been commissioned by Newcastle City Council and NE1 to provide a range of exciting entertainment for all ages, as part of the city-wide Newcastle Christmas events.

Nigel Holliday of EVNT Inspiration revealed that – although the information about the event has just been shared – there has already been a huge amount of interest in  Santa Stories.

“We can’t believe how popular it has been with hundreds of people already booking,” he said.

“It’s something really new for the city and its just one of the events we’re running that all the family can enjoy so we’re so glad to have such an incredible response.”

“We would hate anyone to be disappointed and to miss out by booking too late.”
