A new padel club at Quorum Park is now expected to open in autumn 2026 after its original June launch date passed while construction work continued.
Padel Court Club Newcastle is being developed at the North Tyneside business park, with recent updates showing court structures being installed and work progressing across the site.
The venue is expected to include a mixture of doubles and singles courts, with covered playing areas allowing people to use the facilities throughout the year.
Once complete, it will provide another place to play padel as interest in the racket sport continues to grow across Newcastle and the wider North East.
Padel is normally played in doubles on an enclosed court and combines elements of tennis and squash. Its smaller court and underarm serve can make it easier for beginners to take up than some other racket sports.
The Quorum Park club is being designed for experienced players as well as people trying the sport for the first time. Plans for the venue include changing facilities and areas where players can meet before and after games.
Club manager Eythain Diaz said the team wanted to create a welcoming venue for people from across the surrounding area.
He said: “Padel is such an inclusive and social sport, whether you are highly competitive or picking up a racket for the first time.
“Our vision is to create an environment where people can play, connect and build a community around the sport.”
Coaching sessions, beginner introductions, social events and business leagues are expected to be introduced following the opening.
A confirmed opening date had not been announced at the time of publication, although current project updates indicate that the club is targeting an autumn launch
