October 2024: The UK is known for being a nation of pet lovers, and the North East are no exception, with a recent Petplan survey revealing that 89% of North East respondents are confident in their preparedness for owning a pet.
And with almost a quarter of prospective homeowners in the North East buying a pet in lockdown, pets are clearly a big priority as part of our home life. For Throckley residents Angela and Kevin Purvis, their two golden retrievers, Harry and Riggs, were the biggest priority when buying a home – which was ensuring that they had plenty of open space.
So the first point of call for the new homeowners? To make sure that their two golden retrievers had plenty of rural walks nearby.
Angela commented:
“It was very important to us that we had a great place to walk as soon as we stepped out of our front door. The open spaces at Meadow Hill are so lovely and really well cared for, with planting all around the open spaces, which our two dogs love to sniff!
Featuring 19 acres of open space, Meadow Hill offers rural walks from the doorstep of each home. Due to the green space available in the development and the layout of properties, it was clear that Meadow Hill suited their needs.
After a bad experience with a different housing developer in the past, Angela and Kevin swore off purchasing a new build ever again. However a visit to David Wilson Homes’ Meadow Hill development quickly restored their faith.
Commenting on their experience, Angela notes:
“The whole process from start to finish was fantastic. The team is incredibly knowledgeable about the development, and we ended up reserving a plot on our first visit!”
After viewing the different properties, the Purvis’ decided on the spacious four bedroom Linnet house type.
“Alongside the dog walks, the house type was also a big deciding factor in choosing Meadow Hill. The Linnet was the perfect size and layout for us, we fell in love with it.”
Speaking on the development itself, Angela added:
“The last development we lived in was very crammed and there was hardly any space to walk our dogs. But here at Meadow Hill, the houses are set out very thoughtfully. Our two dogs love their new walks, especially as it’s safe enough for them to trot along off-lead. They’ve even made lots of new friends along the way!”
Natalie Donnelly, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Meadow Hill, commented:
“We’re so pleased to welcome Angela, Kevin, Harry and Riggs into their new home on our Meadow Hill development. Having a bad experience with a different housebuilder can be really off-putting, but we’re very happy that we were able to reassure them and find them their dream home.
“Meadow Hill is growing into a fantastic community, and we look forward to welcoming more families and their pets!”
