Parkside Team

Parkside, a Supported Living Service in Newcastle Upon Tyne, is proud to have received a Highly Commended recognition at the Great British Care Awards North East & Scotland.

The team were named runners up for Home Care Team of the year at the prestigious event in Newcastle, on Thursday 7th November. The recognition celebrates a team that is highly skilled, has excellent communication, and has showcased their commitment and compassion for the people they support.

The team at Parkside are part of national social care charity, Community Integrated Care, and support three people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex care needs, to live fulfilling and independent lives in their community. Each person they support communicates non-verbally, meaning colleagues must understand subtle cues in order to ascertain people’s wants and needs, and provide person-centred care. The team have also ensured they have a wide range of skills and specialist knowledge in order to provide the best support possible, including in moving and positioning training and PEG feeding.

“We are really proud of the team at Parkside for being Highly Commended. They are such a dedicated and inspirational team. The judges were amazed by their achievements, especially how they have empowered a person they support to embrace his passion of art and access incredible opportunities in his community. They’re a testament to our charity’s mission of supporting people to truly live the best lives possible.”

Patrick Ivory, Regional Manager at Community Integrated Care
