A well-respected member of the North Tyneside Business Forum’s management group who sadly passed away with a brain tumour has been remembered by members raising much-needed funds for charity.

Lee Patterson from Whitley Bay was head of Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Shields and passed away aged just 51 with a brain tumour just seven weeks after his diagnosis. Lee was a valued member of the Business Forum and gave up his free time to help advise and support businesses in the Borough.

Now, the Business Forum is recognising his valued contribution by taking part in Wear a Hat Day in aid of Brain Tumour Research on Friday 26th March. They are encouraging the management group to wear a hat in their next Zoom meeting on 1st April and asking Forum members to post selfies of them wearing a hat in their FaceBook page.

Karen Goldfinch, Chair of North Tyneside Business Forum is hoping that many of the Forum’s 1300 plus members will doff their cap to the memory of Lee and donate to the cause.

“Lee put in a great deal of work for the Forum and it was a great shock when we heard about his sudden passing. I’d like to think that he would be smiling at us wearing our hats knowing that his memory was helping other people too.”

The North Tyneside Business Forum is run by a management group made up of members from various industry sectors in the Borough and gives support in the form of networking, events and signposting for growth and development. Membership is free and open to any business of any size trading within North Tyneside. The Business Forum is supported by North Tyneside Council.

The Forum is FREE to join and is for any business with a trading address in North Tyneside.
