North East independent film company Terabithia Pictures has recently premiered its latest film “The Other Birthday” at Newcastle’s Star and Shadow cinema.
Shot in early June 2024, “The Other Birthday” was directed by Terabithia’s Creative Director Gabriel Brown and written by Giulia Vascotto. The pair also make up one half of the film’s production team.
The short stars North East actors Sarah Seymour and Joseph Hammal as Megan and Tom, a turbulent couple whose relationship is pushed to the brink on the day of their dog’s tenth birthday party.
The entire project was shot in Northumberland over only three days, with the cast and crew being accommodated and staying local for the shoot.

The pair are already in the works on their next project together, producing “Different Shores”, a short about an abrasive caregiver and a stubborn elderly woman set in a coastal village.
The pair are reuniting with “The Other Birthday” co-producer Mariella Klein for this film, and are scheduled to shoot in early 2025 in the Northumberland region once more.
“The Other Birthday” is now being submitted to festivals and looks to begin its festival run in 2025.
