Dementia Friendly Newcastle and Newcastle City Council are strengthening their commitment to being a dementia friendly city with the launch of Drawn Together, a new arts programme designed for people living with dementia and those who care for them.

Running from April to June 2025, Drawn Together invites residents to explore their creativity through a range of relaxed art sessions including printmaking, ceramics, bookmaking, painting, hand casting, and animation. The drop-in events are free and open to all, with no booking required.

Family, friends and carers are also encouraged to come along and join the fun, find out about services that are available in the city and strengthen connections in their local community.

Councillor Adam Walker, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Heath and Prevention said:

“Drawn Together is a fantastic example of how creativity can break down barriers and bring people together.

This programme celebrates Newcastle’s compassionate spirit, offering people living with dementia meaningful opportunities to express themselves and feel part of the community.”

These free events be hosted in welcoming, accessible venues across the city, including libraries and community centres, so everyone can feel comfortable taking part. We have chosen each location for ease of access, connections to public transport and how close they are to established dementia support services.
