Barratt Developments North East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has appointed Stephen Wooldridge into the role of Technical Director.

With an impressive career spanning over 13 years, Stephen brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the housebuilding industry. Having joined Barratt Developments back in 2007 through the companies’ Graduate scheme, he has since gained experience across multiple operational divisions, as well as Group Design and Technical, all whilst continuously moving up the career ladder. Joining Barratt Developments North East from his previous role of Senior Technical Manager, at David Wilson Homes Mercia in Solihull, Stephen’s main priority for the region is to build on the success that the housebuilder has seen, with success in the land market, timely site starts and great work on legacy and adoptions. With his role, he will be bringing best practices and multiple improvement opportunities from his time around the Group to the North East region.

Speaking on his recent appointment, Stephen commented: “Since joining Barratt Developments at the start of my career, I’ve been fortunate that the progression opportunities have evolved within the company, which has now led me to be joining the North East division as Technical Director. Despite the effects of Covid-19, demand remains high and the business is in a strong position, which makes it a really exciting time to join the team, to ensure continued delivery of new sites to the division. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by my supportive family and friends, and I know that my children are excited to relocate to the coast!”

Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director for Barratt Developments North East commented: “Speaking on behalf of the team here at the North East, I’d like to congratulate Stephen on his very well-deserved promotion. Barratt Developments prides itself on offering career support and progression for all of its employees, with Stephen setting a wonderful example. We’re confident that Stephen’s drive, enthusiasm and vast skill sets will ensure that the division is able to continue, and improve upon, its success in providing much-needed housing across the region. I wish Stephen the best of luck with his new appointment and I look forward to working more closely with him.”

Barratt Group was recently awarded a maximum five-star rating for the 11th consecutive year in the 2020 Home Builders Federation Customer Satisfaction Survey. The accolade means that more than 90% of its customers say they would recommend its homes to a friend. It also means that Barratt Developments is now the only major national housebuilder to be accredited as a five-star builder for 11 years in a row.
