Nate Diaz Shakes Up Newcastle: UFC Legend Dines at My Delhi, Sampling Signature Dishes
Nate Diaz at My Delhi

Newcastle’s multi-award-winning Indian street food restaurant, My Delhi, has caused quite the buzz on social media following a surprise visit by UFC legend Nate Diaz.

Last night, My Delhi posted a photograph of Diaz dining at their Newcastle branch, sharing that he thoroughly enjoyed their signature Butter Chicken 1950s.

While some social media users were quick to question whether Diaz, who was once known for adopting a plant-based diet, was indeed still vegan, My Delhi took the opportunity to respond and clarify.

“He enjoyed a wide range of dishes,” the restaurant commented on Facebook,

“including our Aloo Tikki Chaat, Delhi Wala Grill, Amritsari Fish, and a variety of our Roadside Curries like the Kozhi Curry and Punjabi Dhaba Chicken.
He also sampled some of our vegan favourites, such as the Harappa Smoked Aubergines and Grandma’s Aloo Matar.”

One commenter pointed out,

“I thought Nate Diaz wasvegetarian!”

However, a closer look at Diaz’s diet reveals that while he was famously vegan during training camps for his fights, he is no longer strictly plant-based. Looks like he adopted a vegan diet primarily for fighting, but it seems his culinary tastes have expanded since stepping out of the octagon.

This isn’t the first time Diaz has been spotted in Newcastle this week. Just days earlier, he made headlines when he was seen enjoying some North East culture with a visit to Greggs near Newcastle Central Station. While perusing the baked goods, Diaz reportedly opted for the vegan sausage roll, much to the delight of students who spotted him inside the store.

Diaz, who left the UFC in 2022 and recently began a professional boxing career, is in Newcastle to support his teammate, Benson Henderson, who is participating in the Misfits Boxing event at the Vertu Motors Arena on Saturday.

My Delhi’s social media post has sparked a flurry of attention, with fans of both the fighter and the restaurant chiming in. With Nate Diaz enjoying a mix of traditional and vegan Indian street food dishes, his visit has brought more attention to My Delhi’s diverse menu and impeccable reputation.

As a local favourite and a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists, My Delhi continues to capture the essence of authentic Delhi street food, with a focus on flavour, innovation, and quality. Whether you’re a fan of spicy curries or vegan delights, My Delhi offers something for every palate—just ask Nate Diaz.
