A Site Manager from local housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, has been recognised as being one of the best in the country, with a national accolade for quality house building as a runner-up from the National House Building Council (NHBC) Supreme awards.

Mark Summersgill, who is the Site Manager at Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Grey Towers Village development in Nunthorpe, was titled with the prestigious national runner-up title, following his previous success after winning Pride In The Job Quality award for the sixth occasion in a row with his work at Grey Towers Village, as well as receiving the Large Builder Supreme Award before that.

Continuing with Mark’s success from Barratt Developments, Kirk Raine, Senior Site Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia was awarded the 2020 NHBC Pride in the Job Supreme award. This is the first time in six years that both the winner and runner-up have come from the same company, underlining the success that Barratt Developments has achieved this year.

To celebrate the great work that all of its site managers do across the country, Barratt Developments has also made a £50,000 donation to the Lighthouse Club, which provides mental, physical and financial wellbeing support for construction workers and their families.

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, said, “We are absolutely delighted to hear about this incredible achievement by Barratt and its site managers in the recent ‘Pride in the Job Awards’ which has resulted in us receiving a hugely generous £50,000 donation.  This donation will go a huge way towards us achieving our mission that no construction worker or their family is alone in a crisis.”

Speaking on Mark’s achievement, Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “We’re delighted to see that Mark’s continued hard work and dedication has been honoured with the national accolade, and it’s great to see that he has been recognised amongst the very best in the country for the high-quality homes that he and his team deliver, for a consecutive year. It demonstrates the exceptional standards that our teams set every day, whilst working with our excellent subcontractors and suppliers to deliver homes that our customers expect. We want to lead the industry for the quality of the homes that we build and these awards are a great demonstration of that.”

Now in their 40th year, the Pride in the Job Quality awards recognise the very best site managers from around the country. In total Barratt Developments North East site managers won six Pride in the Job Quality awards this year, and 92 nationally, more than every other housebuilder. Barratt has now won more Pride in the Jobs Quality awards for 16 years in a row, a record unmatched in the industry which shows its commitment to building homes of the highest quality.
