Bellway North East, which is building new homes at its Falcon Grove development, off North Walbottle Road, Lower Callerton, donated £500 to the school so it could buy the new furniture.
The money will be used to purchase the tables, which will be replacing older ones and will be used to create writing and maths study areas in the Year 1 classroom at the school in The Green.
“Bellway clearly understands the need to create spaces that are utilised effectively and have supported us at Walbottle Village Primary School to do this.
“At the school, we are updating resources in our Year 1 classroom which have been so well used over the years by the many children who pass through our school.
“We were delighted to gain support from Bellway who generously offered to buy us some new tables which will be used to further enhance our areas for learning. All of the staff and children would like to thank Bellway for its very generous donation.”

“When the school approached us to see if we could assist them in the purchase of six tables to refurbish a classroom for the five and six-year-old pupils we were keen to help.
“It is vitally important that all pupils, but especially ones going into the first year of their life in the wider school after reception, get as good a start as possible. We are told that the tables will help the staff create areas where the children can sit down and concentrate on writing and maths, which are very important core subjects.
“Walbottle Village Primary School is less than a mile from our development at Falcon Grove. We are keen to lend our support to local organisations within the area so we can help improve the lives of people in the community. Helping children get a good education is paramount.”

Bellway North East is building 130 new homes at Falcon Grove. The development will feature one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.
The development is part of a wider scheme of up to 900 new homes off North Walbottle Road.
