The proposed relaxation of current restriction on 19 July will give everyone something to sing about – and they can do just that when a leading event returns to the North East later this month.
Kroud Karaoke – the popular mass singalong event – was a monthly occurrence at STACK Newcastle before Covid 19 hit.
And now STACK has announced the return of the event, at both Newcastle and, for the first time, at STACK Seaburn.
The events – at Newcastle on Friday 23 July and in Sunderland on Saturday 24 July – will hopefully help mark the end to restrictions, with no bookings necessary and the end of table service.
The free events will also see both venues able to operate at full capacity and allow them to go back to being walk in venues.

Kevin Walker, Entertainment Director for both STACK venues, said, “Before the pandemic Kroud Karaoke was one of our most popular events, so we can’t wait for the venue to be full again and have everyone singing along to some of the most popular songs ever written.
“Since reopening in April, we have kept entertainment light so as not to encourage singing and dancing as part of the social distancing measures.
“This really goes against what STACK is all about, which is having a great time enjoying the live entertainment in a vibrant atmosphere, so we are now very excited to begin announcing our programme of live events which will encourage crowd interaction including Kroud Karaoke, large bands and dog shows.”
His words were echoed by Neil Winch, CEO of Danieli Leisure, which owns and operates both STACKS:
“We are looking forward to getting back to normal and operating the venue as it was intended – without table service or pre-booked benches and with lots of live entertainment.
“The staff have had a very difficult job over the past year, having to police our customers and dampen their spirits because of the restrictions.
“This isn’t the type of atmosphere we had become known for, we want people to come and have a good sing and dance with friends and family, so the lifting of restrictions is so important to us.”
Neill added, “Although our venues can accommodate a large number of people, we hope that our customers will continue to feel safe visiting in larger crowds due to the fact both STACKs are open-air venues which is a huge benefit and ensures we have good air circulation.”
