Joey Wit: Embracing the Road and the Music

Joey Wit is hitting the road this September, bringing his unique blend of soulful rock and Americana to audiences across the UK and Ireland. As part of his “Rose Gold” Record Release Tour, Joey will be performing alongside a talented array of artists, including Matt Fairley and Katie and the Bad Sign. With a series of dates lined up, including stops in Leeds, Newcastle, Dublin, Belfast, and Omagh, Joey is ready to share his music with fans new and old.

A Musician with Deep Roots

Joey Wit grew up in Middletown, Connecticut, but his heart belongs to both sides of the Atlantic. Proud of his Liverpool roots—evident in the two Liver Birds tattooed on his arm—Joey is equally proud of his Polish heritage, symbolised by the Polish eagle inked on his other arm. Though currently based in Florida, where he enjoys the sunshine, Joey is eagerly anticipating his return to the UK for the tour. “The people, the places, the experiences in the UK mean so much to me,” he says.

The Journey to Music

Before music took over his life, Joey Wit was a baseball player. He believes that his love for touring life stems from those days of travelling around the US on buses. “I love being on the road and the thrill of it all, new places, new people that become fast friends,” he shares. But he’s quick to dispel the glamorous image often associated with being a touring musician. “It’s not always glamorous. Sure, Instagram can make it look that way, but there is a a lot of long nights, a serious lack of sleep, waking up in different cities, and still having the energy to get up and perform each night.”

Joey Wit Black and White

Joey’s transition to music was a natural evolution, and he quickly found himself immersed in the vibrant music scenes of both the US and the UK. His first UK tour after lockdown saw him perform eight shows in the North West, including Manchester and Liverpool. “When I got home, I had post-show blues,” he recalls. “Connecticut was opening up, but I needed sunshine, so I came to Florida.”

“Rose Gold” and the Evolution of a Sound

Joey’s latest album, Rose Gold, marks a significant step forward in his musical journey. Released under Boston record label H1 Massive, the album showcases Joey’s growth as an artist, featuring a mix of sonic surprises and unique instrument choices. The singles released so far, including “Borrowed Time,” have been met with enthusiasm, and the full album is set to drop on September 13th.

“I’m immensely proud of this album,” Joey reflects. “It’s a significant evolution from my earlier work, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.” The album, recorded between 2021 and 2022 on 2-inch, 24-track tape, was entirely captured on analogue equipment, giving it a rich, authentic warmth. “Recording the drums (with Matt Starr- Ace Frehley/Mr. Big) for Rose Gold was one of the most memorable studio experiences I’ve ever had,” Joey recalls. “There was something incredibly satisfying about playing without a click track—it’s those small imperfections that truly make it beautiful.”

A Love for the UK and the Road Ahead

Joey Wit’s love for the UK is evident in his touring history. This upcoming tour will be his fourth or fifth in the UK, and he feels more at home each time. “The UK feels like home now,” he says. The camaraderie he’s found with fellow musicians like multi instrumentalist Wes Russell,  who tours with him in the UK, is something Joey cherishes deeply. “It’s because of music that these connections happen,” he says. “I wouldn’t trade these relationships for all the gold in the world.”

Joey’s tour this September will see him supported by an incredible lineup of artists, including Matt Fairley, who will join him in Leeds, Newcastle, Dublin, Belfast, and Omagh. “It’s going to be an outrageous tour,” Joey promises. “We’re making progress, and I can’t wait to show my cousin (drummer, Nathan Manware) the world outside of the US.”

Looking ahead, Joey has big plans for 2025, including a major European tour that’s already in the works. “This is just the beginning,” he says with a smile. “There’s a lot in the works, and it’s all about getting out there, making connections, and meeting people.”
