Gateshead Store Manager Takes on 50km Challenge for Stroke Association
Katie Blakely

Store manager Katie Blakely from Specsavers Gateshead Team Valley, based in Retail World Retail Park on the outskirts of the town, has raised more than £1,300 for the Stroke Association after completing a 50-kilometre ultra-marathon through the Lake District.

The challenge has raised £1,370 for the charity and Ms Blakely is already looking forward to her next charity challenge.

She says:

‘I’m delighted to have made it across the finish line, and it was a bonus the weather was nice for it this year.

‘Running an ultra-marathon is incredibly challenging but it’s all worthwhile knowing I was able to raise money and awareness for the Stroke Association, who do brilliant work in the local area.

‘I’d also like to thank my colleagues at Specsavers for all their support. I’m already planning my next charity challenge!’

The locally owned and run store in Gateshead is committed to supporting the local community through fundraising and charity initiatives.
