RESIDENTS at a Tyneside care home are holding their first summer fayre this weekend (16 August) with food, music and family fun for everyone.

Belle Vue House at Heaton provides specialist dementia nursing and dementia residential care for 49 men and women.

And they are hoping as many people as possible from the wider community will join them, their families and friends on 16 August from 11am to 4pm.

Along with live music, a barbecue and a pop-up drinks window there will be a whole host of activities for all ages.

These include outdoor games and face painting while a wide range of prizes are up for grabs courtesy of a raffle and tombola.

There are cake and sweet stalls and the chance to capture a memento of the occasion vi a special ‘selfie’ booth.

There will also be a Wellness Corner where visitors can receive a free health check including blood pressure, weight and body mass index.

This will be staffed by one of Belle Vue’s own nurses and a nurse practitioner from a neighbouring GP surgery, who will also be taking part in an ice bath challenge.

“It’s going to have all the traditional elements of a summer fayre – such as stalls, raffles and activities,” said Iwona Proszowska, manager of Belle Vue House, which is owned by leading care provider Prestwick Care.

“But we also wanted to provide a little extra service to the community as well so we thought a Wellness Centre would be a great addition to our line-up.”

Money raised at the fayre will go towards funding meaningful activities for the residents, “and we hope as many people as possible will come along and have a wonderful time,” said Iwona.
