February is everyone’s favourite month, when the sun shines over the soothing wind and rain, and half term is when you have to make the most of it while it lasts.

Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens

No faeries escaped work that day.

Sat 15 – Sun 23 Feb 2020 (11am – 3pm)

Get Hands on With History: Fairies Garden Trail

Put on your fairy hunting boots and join us this February half term at Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens. The fairies are lounging around, not doing their fairy jobs, so we want to send mobs of children after them and find out where they hide to skive off work. There will be a trail sheet and storyteller on hand, and of course your family can spend the whole day in the gorgeous gardens.

Tickets available on the day:
Free for English Heritage members. Family Tickets £28.60, Children/Adults £6.60/£11

Chesters Roman Fort

He’ll grow into it

How to Be a Roman Legionary

We have to be realistic with our kids: the future is uncertain, job markets are changing, and Brexit might lead to a neo-feudal situation where men farm by day, and guard Hadrian’s wall after sunset. Therefore, it’s worth finding out if you’ve got what it takes to be a Roman soldier this half term with our ruthless Roman, Roman, to show you the Roman ropes. Learn a few Roman marching moves in the Roman drills session, hear Roman stories about Roman life in the Roman army, handle some Roman objects, and try on Roman armour.

Tickets available on the day:
Free for English Heritage members. Family Tickets £20.80, Children/Adults £4.80/£8
