The operator for premium bubble tea brand Gong cha in England has announced it is to open on Haymarket in Newcastle, fuelling the bubble tea trend.

The well-known bubble tea brand from Taiwan will open its doors on March 6th, 2021 on Haymarket offering over 40 drinks featuring a range of textures and layers alongside pearls, fruit jellies and milk foam to create enticing tastes and flavours.

Popular variations include ‘Dirtea’, a dessert-like drink combining signature milk foam, fresh milk, brown sugar pearls and topped off with Oreo crumbs.  Other favourites include the classic ‘Pearl Milk Tea’, ‘Strawberry Milk Green Tea’ and ‘QQ Passionfruit Green Tea’.  The Gong cha team is keen to see which flavours prove popular with the people of Newcastle for whom bubble tea may be a new taste sensation.

Gong cha uses only the highest-quality, premium tea sourced from the finest tea estates of the famous Alishan region in Taiwan and is one of the most recognised bubble tea brands globally with more than 1,400 outlets across 19 different territories as far-reaching as Taiwan, Korea, New Zealand and the USA.

Justin Liew, head of Gong cha England, said: “From what we’ve seen in other cities that we are in, we are confident that the people of Newcastle will love it once they’ve tried it. We’ve chosen to open on Haymarket close to the transport hubs so people can grab a drink and enjoy it on their way across town – whether going to work, study or take their daily exercise.  We are geared up to serve customers in a socially distanced fashion and once lockdown is over we see Gong cha as a meeting place for people who like to try new things and  are curious to sample a completely fresh taste sensation.”

The Newcastle store will be open Monday to Sunday from 11AM to 7PM on Haymarket from 6th March 2021.
