Blyth Tall Ship to Host Free Family Open Day This October Half-Term

Families are invited to climb aboard Blyth Tall Ship and discover the town’s rich maritime heritage at a free open day during the October half-term holidays.

Taking place on Thursday 29 October, the Blyth Tall Ship Open Day will give visitors the chance to explore the ship and heritage workshop, enjoy live entertainment and take part in a variety of family-friendly activities, with free entry and parking available.

The event will officially open at 10am with players from Blyth Spartans, who will also be supporting a raffle offering the chance to win two hospitality tickets to a Spartans game during the 2026/27 season.

Activities throughout the day will include tall ship and heritage workshop tours, arts and crafts, STEM activities, a Mouse Hunt and Rubbings Trail, storytelling, live music and a children’s samba workshop, plus selfie opportunities, a raffle and tombola. For history fans, an archive exhibition will be on display and keeping everyone entertained will be Blyth Valley Samba. Refreshments will be available to purchase.

The open day is part of the charity’s continuing work to bring Blyth’s maritime history to life and encourage local families and visitors to discover the story of the town, its shipbuilding traditions and its connections to the sea.
